Frequently Asked Questions about Bestattungsfonds

QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

  • What is the Bestattungsfonds?

This fund was created to support our fellow citizens with a migration background who live in Austria in the event of a death, both personally and financially. The fund ensures that the legal and religious requirements are implemented in a professional manner. Members are given the opportunity to have the deceased transferred and buried in their home country without the surviving family members suffering a financial loss. All you need to do is inform us in a timely manner about the deceased.

For more information about our services, please contact our staff at the branches.

Attention! The Bestattungsfonds not only provides financial support, but also connects you with trustworthy partners to carry out all legal and religious steps, from collection and body washing to handover to family members.

  • How much are the membership fees?

As a member of the association, the following amounts must be paid, depending on the age at entry:

    Age Registration fee (€)
    (Fees for a new registration)
    Annual membership fee
     Between 1-50 years  100,-  20,-
     Between 51-60 years  200,-  20,-
     Between 61-65 years  250,-  20,-
     Between 66-69 years  300,-  20,-
     Between 70-75 years  500,-  20,-
     76 years and older  700,-  20,-

In the event of an accidental death occurring more than 3 days after the payment of the amounts, the waiting period of 60 days does not apply. In order to become an active member, amounts must always be paid within 14 days of receipt of the invoice. Members who register after October 1 do not need to pay a contribution for the current year. Unfortunately, in the event of a death within the 60-day waiting period, the membership is not active and the services of the fund cannot be used.

  • What services does the membership offer?

  • What do I need to do if my address and/or bank details change?

Address changes and/or changes to bank details must be notified to us in writing within 30 days. You can notify us of the changes in person at the branches, by email (office@bestattungsfonds.at), or through our website using the “Change of Address and Bank Details” form.
